THE CHILDREN’S MUSIC CENTRE offers children a chance to develop these attributes through the acquisition of music. Thirteen years of research and designing education programmes has led to the development of this musical forum where children can create, learn musical skills, and feel safe about being themselves.

THE CHILDREN’S MUSIC CENTRE has been set up first and foremost for kids. The music classes provided are designed for children to ENJOY music, to have fun while learning music. We believe that learning music has got to be a positive experience for kids in order that true learning to take place.

EXACTLY WHAT DO THE PUPILS LEARN?

Guided by qualified teachers and some of Edinburgh’s best and up and coming musicians, THE CHILDREN’S MUSIC CENTRE aims to develop skills such as playing a range of musical instruments by ear, sight reading music, writing music, performing, improvising playing music for their own enjoyment and self expression and composing their own material for communication.

THE CHILDREN’S MUSIC CENTRE objectives are to provide a positive environment for students to explore the creative side of themselves through the art of music. By building on latent skills, we aim for ENJOYMENT and the desire for music, both for personal SELF-EXPRESSION and, COMMUNICATION by performance. Once the desire to learn music has been recognised, tuition on technical skills are readily available to help students attain the goals they set for themselves, thus providing a programme tailored especially for each student.
