From the Director's Desk
Making the right choice for your children’s music education can be time consuming and worrying, but you can relax with the knowledge that you are now in professional hands.
I chose teaching as a career as a young child and I’ve never turned back. And… I simply love teaching music to children! Music still gives me joy even after being in this music education game for over 20 years now! I teach those who will make a career out of music, and those who want to make music for the sheer joy of it. I am very passionate about the future of music in New Zealand and about the success of our communities in New Zealand, so you can be assured I’ll be dedicated to the success of your child - my students - both in music and for his or her future. Call me old fashioned, but I care. I care about our futures.
Music connects us, person to person, group to group. It is a cultural expression. It is also a whole brain activity which balances our intellectual and cognitive processes with our emotional, intuitive and creative processes.
Practicing these functions regularly helps promote mental well being, balance and often happiness and success. The Children’s Music Centre aims to provide the highest quality of all facets of music education. We aim to grow creative, confident and motivated children so that they will turn into creative, confident and motivated adults and musicians who succeed, not just in music, but in life. |
The courses provided are trialed, methodical, comprehensive, individualised, and are first and foremost designed for children to enjoy music while they develop their confidence and musical skills.
Courses are designed to keep open any creativity possibilities and make enough space for the pupil to develop musically and experience success, all the while being guided, encouraged and supported by qualified, professional, committed and skilled tutors in a safe and friendly environment. It’s not what you play, it’s how you play it! I encourage children to play music, express themselves through music and to love it, but also to play the works of others with passion, conviction and understanding. Music exams with Trinity College are an option. This is your opportunity to enrich your child’s life! I look forward to meeting you soon. With very best wishes, Karen Jones Director, CEOL |
